posted Mar 22, 2016, 5:55 AM by SRamachandran Igib
On 18th February, Dr. Habib eagerly shared her stories with IGIBians from being brought up in the royal city of Aligarh amidst the rich heritage of poetry and history in the family to her unending passion for science and her quest to solve the Malaria puzzle.  Her work in investigating the role of human genetic variation and susceptibility to severe P. falciparum malaria in Indian population and her present fascination for malarial apicoplast, a relict plastid of Plasmodium is making waves in the world of infectious disease biology. Besides being the recipient of a number of awards and accolades for her work, she has recently been recognized as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru. Work apart, her love for history, politics and Urdu poetry sparks inspiration amongst scientists and students alike.
